About This Release
Nostalgia 19 is a mixtape of reflection, growth, and rediscovery. It’s about finding yourself again when the world feels fractured, and holding onto moments of joy, connection, and clarity. Songs like Shelf and Pages wrestle with moving forward and creative burnout, while Give ‘Em a Show and All The Same celebrate reclaiming lost spontaneity. Calmer tracks like Love Can Travel and Our Favorite Place explore connection across distance and finding comfort in what used to feel like home. Ultimately, Nostalgia 19 is about embracing what’s been lost, holding on to what remains, and finding something new to carry you through.
Nostalgia 19 – Tracklist
“Today” – A piano-driven ballad that captures the feeling of regret and longing for normalcy. It’s about trying to make peace with a moment gone wrong, and the struggle to forgive yourself when the past feels too close.
“Shelf” – A reflection on feeling stuck but knowing you can’t stay that way forever. Inspired by artists like Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Emmylou Harris, and Johnny Cash, it’s about realizing you’ve been on the sidelines too long, and finding the courage to push forward, even when the past still lingers.
“Other Shoe” – Blending chill, lo-fi, and downtempo influences, this song creates a dreamy, introspective groove. Inspired by Zero 7, Sneaker Pimps, Men I Trust, and French for Rabbits, its subtle pads and synths evoke a contemplative, hazy atmosphere. Thematically, it explores the tension between personal agency and societal pressure, making it relatable for anyone trying to find their own path.
“Pages” – A retro Synthpop and New Wave homage with shimmering arpeggios, atmospheric pads, and driving electronic beats. Drawing influence from Depeche Mode, CHVRCHES, Ladytron, and The Human League, it captures the frustration of creative block and the journey to reclaim inspiration.
“Love Can Travel” – A soulful, emotional track inspired by artists like Dusty Springfield, Jackie DeShannon, Jonny Lang, and Patty Griffin. It’s about holding onto something real even when it feels impossible to reach. The warm Rhodes piano and smooth vocals create an intimate, timeless atmosphere.
“Our Favorite Place” – A nostalgic, introspective track reflecting on the places that once felt like home. It’s about learning to accept change and finding peace in the memories, even when they feel distant.
“Surrender” – A playful and mysterious track drawing influence from Bossa Nova’s smooth, relaxed style. It’s about those fleeting moments of curiosity and connection that pull you in, even if only for a moment.
“Give ‘Em a Show” – A dance-pop anthem packed with nostalgic references and energetic synth lines. Inspired by artists like Roosevelt, Charli XCX, and Carly Rae Jepsen, it’s about reclaiming joy and living life with excitement.
“All The Same” – A punchy, upbeat swing-inspired track that channels the carefree energy of artists like Postmodern Jukebox and Tape Five. It’s about breaking out of routine and embracing the thrill of taking risks.
“Wintery Dew” – A gentle, acoustic track inspired by the likes of The Church (Under The Milky Way), KT Tunstall, and classic folk artists. It’s about finding clarity and peace after a long, difficult journey—like waking up after the storm has passed.
